Hi everyone,

I just wanted to write this to thank everyone who has been helpful to me on this journey, I have also reached out to many of you personally but if in case I missed someone, I wanted to take the opportunity to thank them.

My VAWA got approved, and it feels like a mountain has lifted off of my head. For those who are aware with my case, I had a simple DUI charge from 2022 while I was still in an extremely dark place. But ever since the incident, I took significant steps in the last three years, and provided a lot of evidence to the USCIS, and thankfully the case was approved.

Again, I'm so very thankful to everyone, who have been helpful not just to me, but every soul on this forum, this group itself is godsend, and the fact that it has helped so many people on this difficult journey, no matter which administration is in power, deserves all the flowers. You all should be extremely proud of the work you're doing.

Even though the VAWA application has been approved my I-485 is still pending with no updates which I filed concurrently back in January 2022. I hope it'll move forward soon.

It would be really helpful to hear other people's experiences on the same, how long did it take after the VAWA approval, what the interview experience was like? I can't wait to go see my family whom I haven't seen in 7 years now.

Also, I wanted to get your thoughts about the DUI, and if it can still be an issue? It was the first offense and I had to pay a fine, there was no incarceration or probation involved.

Thank you!

congratulations on your VAWA approval. Did you file i-485 concurrently with VAWA?

Congratulations on the good news. Hopefully 485 will get approved soon. Did you had a removal? And did you file in Jan 2022?

My VAWA got approved

Yee-HAAAAA!

[Note to T-B.'s self:  Jokes worked again... jokes worked again... :P ]

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Thank you Balo!

Yes, filed in Jan, 2022. Concurrently. Any insights on the timeline now, and if the DUI can still be an issue?

When was your VAWA approved. As long as paid the fine you will be fine and it it is just one and only offence you have. I would say give it 3 to 4 months after your VAWA approval, after that either make an info pass appointment or reach out to your congress person.

Thank you, yes that is the only offense, fine was paid and the case was closed.
