Hello Friends, Need your input on the case.

We’ve applied for our parent's visit visa for the USA from the Quebec location and the officer mentioned that our visa is approved and passports are submitted. We paid for the Premium services which means passports will be back within 3 days. Still, we didn’t receive the passports. Although we are trying to contact them, we haven't received any response.

Due to an emergency, my parents need to travel to India by the end of November. Any suggestions and inputs are highly appreciated.

Thank you for the message. We've applied for my parents visa from the Quebec location (Oct-31-2023) and the tracker shows One file is approved and the other is issued.

OK, so issued definitely means the visa has been granted and has been put in the passport - I wondered if perhaps they'd been put in to AP so that's good. As Boiler has said, 3 days doesn't include the consulate time for approving and printing, just for the sending back of the passport, it's usually about 2 weeks in total.

Thank you. The officer told us our visa were approved would receive the passports in 10 days but the tracker doesn't show anything changed from Oct. 31st.

I'm worried because, without the passports, they can't fly back to India as this is an emergency for them and we stay in toronto and extened my parents tickets couple of times :(

Status:

One file is Issued.

Your visa is in final processing. It may take up to ten (10) business days to be shipped to you. To check your document return status, please visit https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/niv/information/courier. If after ten (10) business days you still have not received your document tracking number, or your documents, send an e-mail to Contactus_en_ca@usvisa-info.com to request assistance

One file is approved.

The consular officer has approved your application subject to final processing by the consular section that is necessary to issue your visa. When that processing is complete, the status will change to "Issued". However, a final screening step must still be completed prior to issuance that could lead a consular officer to conclude that you are not eligible for a visa. If that occurs, the consular officer will notify you that your application has been denied and your status will change to "Refused".

For more information, please visit U.S. Embassy Quebec.

From what you've quoted, one case is in AP, i.e. final background checks are being done. Is that your fathers??

10 business days from 31st October is today, so hopefully the tracking will update later for the one that has been issued. What does the courier status say for that one?

The file issued is for my mother-in-law and the approved one is for my father-in-law. For both the files, we just see the status nothing is being updated on the https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx

When we tried to call customer service, they mentioned once we've the tracking number then they could be helpful. for now Until and unless we don't have the tracking number then they cant do anything.

My concern is what is the reason for being delayed and what is the processing time.

Thought it would be the father, it is more common for men to be put in to AP than women.

Your MIL's isn't delayed, it's still within the timescales given. Your FIL's is a wait and see thing unfortunately, AP can last a day, a month or a year. No way of knowing. I'd suggest you call customer services again and tell them you need the passport back urgently - they can then just request it again when your FIL's case is finalised and hopefully the visa is ready to be issued.
