Ok...so i filed for the ead along with the aos for my husband and we used the a6 category was I supposed to use the c9 and if so how do i go about fixing this i just sent out my packet on the 24th of this month???

please help???

You could make an infopass appointment and request they contact the NBC to see if they will amend it.... if not then you will get a EAD valid for the same time as the I-94 so you may have a few days of valid EAD before it expires if you are lucky....

Category a6 is for people who entered on a K-1 visa and can not apply for AoS yet, but want to be able to work before their K-1 visa expires.

So yes, c9 is the one you should have used (as specified by the guide on this site).

I have no idea how to fix it but I would suggest trying to talk to call USCIS for starters.

Timeline:

2005-04-14: met online

2005-09-03: met in person

2007-02-26: filed for K-1

2007-03-19: K-1 approved

2007-06-11: K-1 in hand

2007-07-03: arrived in USA

2007-07-21: got married, yay!

2007-07-28: applied for green card

2008-02-19: conditional green card in hand

2010-01-05: applied for removal of conditions

2010-06-14: 10-year green card in hand

2013-11-19: applied for US citizenship

2014-02-10: became a US citizen

2014-02-22: applied for US passport

2014-03-14: received US passport

On the USCIS website you will see on the homepage a way to contact your local office to make a appointment, this is an infopass and yes you will have to travel to it.

The (mis)information line will be useless in this situation.
