Is anyone having any luck with interviews at Santo Domingo Dominican Republic embassy? My case is still at NVC and they are saying that interviews at Santo Domingo is limited. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes. I have my case number. I sent an inquiry and NVC first said embassy was not conducting interviews because of COVID. When I responded and said online says they are conducting interviews then they responded and said only a select number of cases are being done. But Embassy said they were conducting interviews. I am confused. I never received my welcome letter but when I inquired about my case number they sent it to me.

Not sure, who you are inquiring with, but if your case is still at NVC it should be in transit by next week, as next week is a week that they will be mailing cases to the embassy. Once your case is at the embassy, then you can pay the DS-160 fee and book your interview. Next week on Tuesday/Wednesday check to see if your case is in transit. When it says ready, you will be able to take the next steps to book the interview.

I am just corresponding through email with NVC and I have gotten so many discrepancies dealing with them when I inquire about something. But thank you, that is good news. Will embassy send me a letter by mail or email to let me know that they have my case and I can schedule my interview? I have completed the DS-160 just need to pay the fee and then schedule. This makes me feel so much better as I have been waiting for this for almost two years now.

I wouldn’t rely on the embassy emailing you. Just check if it’s in transit. Once it says ready, take the next steps.

Is this ("as next week is a week that they will be mailing cases to the embassy.") for all types of immigrant visas? How about employment-based immigrant visas? For EBs NVC schedules the interviews. I have been waiting since August 2022, EB-2. However, I did receive my letter from NVC. Also, NVC sent me an email December 2022 saying,"The next communication you receive from NVC will be either a notice that your appointment is scheduled, or if an appointment is not scheduled within the next 60 days, we will send a notice confirming that your case is still in line for an interview." They sent me the same one last October 2022.

Sorry, I don’t know anything outside of k1 visa. I’m just only aware of what is currently happening for k1 visas. If you’re still waiting, it probably means that they’re not taking any visas in your category at this time.

Nvc can give conflicting information regarding next steps for DR so I would take what they say with a grain of salt. But Jamie is right, the embassy requests cases every two weeks on Tuesday and Wednesday and you should be on the lookout those days to see if your case is in the next batch that gets sent. And no, the embassy will not send you any correspondence regarding any next steps. When your case is sent to the embassy, NVC will email you something called a Welcome Letter. It has loose instructions of what your next steps  will be. It’s not complete by any means

Thank you so much! How long does it take for the papers to get to Embassy? I am reading roughly about 5 days? Also, does it take a long time for the Embassy to give the "ready" status? Another question, do you know if DR embassy issues the visa on the same day as the interview or is there a wait period and if so, how long? Sorry for so many questions.
