Hi,

How long is the Employment letter valid? I know I will need it at some point and would like to get that ready incase HR takes time processing it.

Do apologize if this one is already answered somewhere that I couldn’t find searching. This is my first post and the forum appears very helpful. Thanks to all contributors.

Timeline

Since it could take about a month to two months from the time they approve the petition at the USCIS to the time you need to supply that information, you can request it from your HR department as soon as they approve it. Right before send it to the NVC.

Since I received the approval email and waiting on the Snail mail, I should go ahead and request that letter. Am I correct? Thanks for your response.

One or two months before Interview date will be fine.

It doesn't take too long for HR to generate Employment verification letter.

Oh yes, absolutely. If you request it now then the date should be fine for when you have to present it at the interview.

Z & S, welcome to the VJ site. You will need Employment letter for your I-864 packet that you will mail to NVC later. So have your HR Department prepare a letter for you (how much you make, how long you have been employed there, your job description, position, etc). When you receive your I-864 from NVC, get a print out of that letter and have HR change the date on the letter at that time. That way, the letter will be very much updated. This is what I did. My HR saved a copy for me on her computer and when I needed, she printed it out for me with the date at that time.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview
