Well, like everyone else its been quite a wait on this process, but we finally have an appointment.   We were having trouble paying fees online, but a week after giving us the date of the appointment, we received a notification that we had 72 hours to walk into a bank in Mexico and provide an account number and a pin number to pay the 260. or they would cancel the appointment.  We received it on a wed. and the money had to be paid 2 days before the due date, giving us exactly 24 hours to pay.  Its paid, but just wow on the urgency.

My fiance and I have been apart for over 3 years, due to covid I have only been able to go there and visit one time.  I was planning on being there for the visa appointment, waiting outside so we could celebrate and possibly go the the beach and just be so happy the process is complete.  However, I cannot get off work due to other coworkers out with medical issues.  So, (sigh) I just have to wait here.

My question is to anyone that has gone through the visa process in Mexico City, how long did you wait to get the physical Visa so you could exit the country and be with your honey?   Thank you

When did you apply for the K1 visa? We were approved but were told the NVC is holding our case because Mexico city embassy is om hold for now..?

Original application 2.26.21   however we were notified after numerous emails.... on augsust 25 2022 that we had an appointment 10.13.22.    so hold on   on 10.3.2022 we got the same message to pay because ceac wasnt allowing us to pay through them.  You cannot pay electronically, you literally need to walk into a mexican bank to do this...

hi.  We were told the same thing and just went out and filled out the forms anyways as recommended by participants on this site.  WE went to fill out the financial affadavit and it said.. only ukraine is being accepted but when we clicked to the next page... it let us use the drop down box for Mexico.  so we proceeded and got a receipt number at the completion.  Same with the Visa.... We filled out the DS160 and thats when we got the appointment...and got the notice our file was being sent to the embassy in mexico city.    Mexico City has a 35 day wait list for an appointment  (bus days) and that is about what it took.  Ciudad Juarez is like 3 days,.

Go through the email system and tell them you did not get your case number.  We found out that the case number ) example ours started with MEX  I know someone that is in columbia and hers is BOG for bogata.  They told us Mexico City was closed but if you go on and look they are processing, they  have been open since april,... So, I sent that info the link showing its open. this:  https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/wait-times.html

You can even call there... its open.  I found out the MEX number we needed they issued in January..  they could have sent it.. but did not until I emailed them about 3 times.  They first sent the MEX number  but would not send an invoice number so I could log in, but I didnt need it for the ds160 https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/

It looks like if you can do the visa, they might be asking to transfer the case....because as others on this board told me to just do that and it triggered an appointment.   the financial affadavit is i134 https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-134.pdf
