I-134 as a new independent contractor

Hi! I changed careers and went back to school a couple of years ago and as a result my last couple of tax returns don't meet the income requirements. I graduated last October and landed a new job in January that more than meets the income requirements. The issue is, it is an independent contractor job. My contract has no end date, and my employer wrote me a letter that states "This letter serves to verify that from January 2022 - current, XX
has been doing work for XX as an Independent Contractor at the
rate of X per hour (or X per year). (information redacted for privacy reasons. :) ) I have heard that if you are an independent contractor... the uscis won't accept your independent income unless it was stated on a previous tax return, which this one wasn't since it's a new job. Has anyone been in a similar situation or has any insight for me? Thank you all so much!

USCIS does not care about I-134 for K1.  Who you need to convince is the interviewing officer at the consulate.  Good that you already have a letter from your employer that your beneficiary can bring to the interview.
