My fiance has gone to the US throughout the years to either visit friends and family or travel. He is still very close with his host family from when he was an exchange student in rural Iowa 10 years ago and has gone in the summers to live with them for up to 3 months. Another time he decided to explore outside of the mid-west and traveled the East Coast, staying with friends and traveling around the Atlantic seaboard.

How should we account for this time on the G-325a? He was legally in the US all times on his tourist visa and only traveling. However, especially when traveling, how do you report traveling? For instance when I was traveling in Europe or Latin America for 1-5 months at a time I was planning on putting my US address at the time since I was staying with friends or at hostels. Similarly with his case, in his respective travels, he was never residing or living, but rather visiting or staying. So, must we put "traveling" or our permanent residence?

The G325a does not ask about travel. It asks for "Applicant's residence last five years."
