Hi...

This is my first post here, although I have been reading since November.

I married a wonderful man from the UK in November here in New York. Two days later, I sadly had to say good bye to him so we could go about filing our CR1. Which we did on 12/5/06. I have received NOA1 on Dec. 9th, and was "touched" last on Dec 14th. So far, I look every day at my case status with hope.

We had a micro wedding here, and have been planning a big bash for friends and family back in his home town of Aberdeen on February 25th. I am traveling to Aberdeen on Feb. 20th and I am beginning to be concerned as to what to say when I am questioned at immigration in Aberdeen.

Do I tell them I am visiting my husband for our 2nd wedding? Or should I just say I am attending "a wedding", or visiting relatives? Obviously they will see the name change in my US passport when it is scanned...

Since I know very well that he cannot return here until he has his passport stamped and such- my question is, will I raise a red flag with my honesty? Or shall I keep it simple?

Anyone have any experience with this???

Hello & congratulations! I think the most important thing is that you can prove you have no intention of over-staying your tourist visa. Make sure you have your return ticket or proof of your return ticket.

I understand you not wanting to divulge too much information about your reason for visiting, but be careful about what you say. If you are carrying any paperwork that they could read and find the true reason for your visit, you will be denied if you weren't honest. (i.e. anything to do with wedding planning, a diary, etc)

As long as you can prove you do not intend to stay here, there is no reason for them to deny you entry - even if they know you're here to get married. It wouldn't hurt to bring your most recent paystub and a copy of your rental/lease agreement to prove you have a "life" to go back to. ;)

BTW, couples often come over here to get married (destination weddings) but don't stay, so this wouldn't necessarily raise red flags.

If asked I would simply say that you were married in November and have come to celebrate with your husbands family as they cannot all travel to the US for a celebration there.

I agree. Based on my recent experience entering the UK, you will have no problem. Good luck and have fun!

13 Feb. 2006 - sent I-130; 14 Feb. 2006 - I-130 received at Nebraska

28 Feb. 2006 - NOA-1

2 Mar. 2006 - RFE for payment problem; 3 Mar. - corrected & mailed; 6 Mar. - USCIS rec'd payment

12 June 2006 - APPROVED! (NOA-2)

20 June 2006 - case number assigned

3 July 2006 - DS-3032 and AOS Fee bill generated; 6 July - emailed DS-3032 Choice of Agent

13 July 2006 - Received DS-3032 (UK)

14 July 2006 - DS-3032 mailed to NVC

My husband visited me in october and went back yesterday he said that they gave him no probs at immigration this end. He was honest with them and they just informed him of his rights as the spouse of a ukc.

Thank You Donna...that is fantastic t hear...I know it certainly would not be so easy here, and since "here" is all I know, I got concerned...you put me at ease ! : )
