APPLY SSN RIGHT AWAY ??

Do we really need to apply SSN# right away using SINGLE name or even ur not yet MARRIED yet as k1??? what is the purpose of applying early.....

or better do it after the wedding so u can use married name right away?

Im just curious..

bcoz some apply early then after the wedding ammended it with MARRIED SURNAMES

some apply it AFTER wedding ???

Hello! In the USA, the SSN is all-important, without it, you usually cannot get a job or open a bank account or apply for credit cards etc., etc. So applying for a SSN right away (meaning 2 weeks after arriving in USA) is good to begin getting established here. Also, all your documents will be in your maiden name and it will be a breeze to prove your identity for initial SSN card.

After marriage, you can go back and change the name on the SSN.

That was one of the first things we did when Eugenia got here .........sorta wished we had waited till after we were married ...... but she has a checking ....savings ....and the ss number is good for those so get it now or after you two get married ........... no real hurry.
