My wife will soon by submitting N400 application for citizenship under the 319b Expedited Naturalization qualifications. The Fairfax, VA USICS office will be selected for interview and oath ceremony. Two questions:

1. How long is it taking (in 2022) from the time of submitting application to scheduling interview and oath ceremony?

2. What is the process like when choosing the date for the interview and oath ceremony? Is there a certain time frame, say a year, quarter, or month that you can choose any date from? Is it from a pre-selected multiple choice dates? I'm concerned we would be stuck with a bad date (due to Covid restrictions in foreign countries).

Thank you in advance!

1. Not sure about 2022 but It took 5 months for me last year.
2. You will have pre-selected dates to choose from. The time frame is a few months (3-4), interviews are on Monday/Tuesday and the oath is on Tuesdays.

Don’t worry, you will have plenty of time to plan for your trip back to the U.S! Just make sure to call the passport agency two weeks before the date you’re supposed to leave the U.S to go back to the country you’re in, just so you can get an expedited passport to leave the country. They will have the passport ready the same day of your appointment with them.
