Hi everyone, I'm a F-1 student planning to file for AOS in March. I'm in the process filling out my I-485 and I have a burning question about address history. I hope you all could help me understand this.

I have traveled back and forth between the U.S. and my home country over the past 5 years. The trips were between 1 and 11 months long. However, I always stayed at my parents' house when I visited my country. In the form I-485, it says "Provide your most recent address outside the United States where you lived for more than one year". So my questions are:

  1. Since I have never stayed for more than a year in my home country, do I still need to provide the foreign address?
  2. I stayed in my home country for almost 11 months and came back to the U.S. on November 12, 2021. Since then, I have resided in my U.S. address. In this case, when I fill out the address history, my current address is in the U.S. and should indicate "November 12, 2021 -- Present", correct?
  3. I was in my home country between December 15, 2020 to November 11, 2021, so I should fill out the second address history section with my parents' address and the date like this, "December 15, 2020 to November 11, 2021", correct? But this is less than year, so do I still need to provide this address?
  4. So after the second address above, I should write in the 3rd address history section 'my U.S. address' again, correct?
  5. I also spent 2 months in 2020 in my home country at my parents' house, so should I fill out the 4th address history section with my parents' address and the date like this, "January 1, 2020-February 20, 2020"?
  6. I have always stayed at the same U.S. address, but I'm so confused. Do I have to write the same U.S. address and the same foreign address for the past five years? Because I didn't live continuously the whole year in the U.S. or my home country.

I very much appreciate all your input and advice!

@Allaboutwaiting, Thanks! My confusion is I haven't lived continuously in the U.S.. I have been in and out of the country at least 2 times a year. Do I need to fill the gaps with the foreign address?

You have just one address in the US, so even though you've visited your country, there are no actual gaps.

What I would do is listing the address in the US as continuous on fields 5a to 6b and your parents' address on fields 9a to 10b -with the dates you've lived there BEFORE you moved to the US-
