Hi everyone,

My girl will be leaving the philippines on a K1 visa in 2 weeks.

I hear people are telling me that there is a travel tax?

I purchased her plane tickets here in the usa.

How much should she bring to the airport, and what taxes will she be charged?

Thanks again,

as always,

take care,

That's the airport tax. The travel tax is additional for Philippine citizens. It's something like P1650.

I thought this was included in the price of the tickets. At least that was what i had read before.

750 is the terminal fee and not the travel tax. the travel tax is 1,700 but i am not so sure. just ask a travel agent. they know better.

If ticket was purchased in the US, travel tax is not included there. Most tickets bought in the Philippines have the travel tax included in the fee.

Travel tax for Economy Class: p1620.00

Travel tax for First Class: p2700.00

Terminal Fee: p550

Security fee: p200

So if you're flying Economy, you will be needing a total of= p2370.00 and for First Class= p3450.00. You can pay the travel tax at the Philippine Tourism Authority at T. M. Kalaw St., Ermita, Manila (DOT Building) or at the PTA counter at the airport.

Get this...I was on an airline web site this past weekend looking up quotes to possibly send 3 people from Phils to USA round-trip...the cost: 359,766PhP or $7,861 USD!!! I almost choked. Then just out of curiosity, I looked up a round trip on the same dates, same class, same flight numbers, leaving from Raleigh Durham, again round-trip (as if I were sending three people to Phils), and the cost for 3 people was $3,734 USD!! Why on earth would it cost more than double as it does in USA for the same flights, same times, etc???? And as for a Filipino traveler tax, but whatever it is, I'll pay it for Jacki when we leave together...and I can also confirm as of May 27, 2007 at least that the departure airport tax/fee thing is indeed 750PhP per traveler.
