Hello Everybody,

I recieved my provisional green card almost two years ago and am just now applying for the lifting of my conditions on it. However there is something that I have overlooked. My husband and I moved house about a year and a half ago and I was unaware that I was supposed to inform UCIS. Why I did not check this issue with them at the time I have no idea, I suppose I must put it down to the stress of moving.

Having just printed out my 1-751 form I happened upon a 'change of address' form which stated that a person who is not a US citizen may face harsch penalties if they do not declare their change in residence within ten days of their moving.

My question is, am I likely to be in big trouble because of this? It was not purposefully done and I was in no way trying to conceal my wherebouts. We only live five minues down the road from where we were.

Can anybody who can advise me on what I should do next?

Thanks,

Nia

I don't know how they will look at it, but it is best to file the change of address as soon as possible, then file for lifting of conditions.

Best of luck.

When I filed for AOS, the USCIS had no clue I had moved residence, despite me filing all the forms on time so I shouldn't worry too much. Just file them now, and let them know the truth if it is raised. I doubt it will though.
