I hope this is the right place for this.

The EAD card came 3 weeks ago. Still NO sign of an SSN.  I double-checked forms and I correctly requested on the I-765. Our local SSN office won't do appointments unless you can prove you're homeless and starving. Has this happened to anyone else?

It took me a long time to get my SSN. Like 6 weeks or more from my EAD. I’m sorry, and it sucks a LOT. But unfortunately that’s how it is. I put my name on the list at the SSN office to be called when there was an appointment available, but it came before they called me. (Bakersfield, CA)

I can empathize, as I was out of a drivers licence for 2.5 months and needed my SSN to get it back. It’s pretty crummy.

Try calling different office in your area. I think I called like 3 different office in Dallas TX area. Tell them that you really need the SSN otherwise you will lose the job offer/can't work or something. You know make it a big deal but be polite. I'm sure one of them will give you an appointment.

Good luck !
