Hi,

My wife born in China and got adopted to hk when she was a bady and lived in Hong Kong afterwards.

Do she need to get the police certificate in China as well?

she already applied the Hong Kong police certificate.

your input is greatly appreciated.

You should get confirmation directly from the US consulate in Hong Kong.  But based on the consulate's checklists posted online, it seems your wife doesn't need a police certificate from China, if she left when she was a baby --

Police certificates from your country of residence for the past 6 months and from other countries in which you have lived for more than 12 months after age 16.

If you left mailand China after 1949 and were at least 17 years old at the time of your departure, you must obtain a police certificate from the Chinese Notary Public Office.
