Hi All,

I have my N400 interview on April 21st in Philadelphia office. We are moving on the 23rd to Tampa. Since Philadelphia doesn't have same day Oath ceremony, where will my Oath ceremony will be conducted? Does anyone have similar experience? Thanks!

Hi,

I do not have any experience in this regard but would love to ask if you have called USCIS to speak with a tier 2 officer. I think a change of address AR-11 might trigger your case to be transferred to your new address but I do not know how the minimum three months residency apply in this case. I would have suggested you look into flying back to complete this step when you are scheduled for the Oath Ceremony.

My understanding is you'd file an AR-11 when you move. If your oath has already been scheduled at that point, they will likely cancel it, and schedule one at your new address. If they don't do that, and you decide to fly back for it, I think they will refuse to give you the oath, as you'll be under a different district.

The best option is to file the AR-11, then have the Oath Ceremony at the new location. It will only take some time to be transferred since there might be the possibility of the Oath Ceremony not being scheduled immediately after the interview. I think if he file the AR-11 as soon as he gets to the new location, it might avoid the issue of cancelling and rescheduling. But with USCIS, I am very afraid of having them change things, speaking for bad experience with scheduling issues. Anyway, wish you all the best in your interview.

Your journey is a lot closer to completion than others,

Ask this question at the interview.

Sounds like a good time to get necessary information, however, I might suggest he asked the question after the whole interview have been conducted. I'm not sure if the IO can ask the OP to go and wait for an interview date in his relocating field office.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I asked a lawyer and she asks me to tell the IO during the interview. I am officially not moving until after the day of the interview. If PHL ad same day oath ceremony, I will be a citizen before I move :(.

I think you can search if they do same day ceremony in that field office. That will give you a good idea to plan for......

Hey everyone,

Thanks for your help. I did attend the interview on the 22nd. The officer recommended for approval! I told him about my move to Tampa and he said he will transfer the case to Tampa office and asked me to file AR-11. He asked me to wait for a week before reaching out to Tampa office for the Oath ceremony! He also mentioned that if I had the interview one day before, he could have put my name for the ceremony the same day! Now, the wait for the ceremony starts!

It has been more than a month since my interview. How do I reach out to USCIS Tamps to check if they will schedule my Oath ceremony? Or should I just wait forever for them to schedule my Oath?

It is a waiting game, you can call and ask for a tier 2 officer that can answer your question. Transfer of cases across field offices takes some time. Keep hanging in there......

I got a letter from USCIS for another interview in Tampa on July 27th. I was hoping that I would get letter for Oath ceremony and not another Interview. Hopefully I pass the second interview as well!

You will inform the interviewer that you pass the interview and was only waiting for OATH ceremony. Maybe they want to give you the Tampa Interview
