I applied for k1 visa November last year and the case was approved in June 2020. But the case has been stuck in the nvc since then. But I received an email last week stating the following:

Dear

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your fiancé (e)’s/spouse’s approved I-129F petition from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). NVC will now forward the petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Please note that the transfer process can take several weeks. The U.S. Embassy or Consulate will contact your fiancé (e)/spouse when they are ready to process his or her petition.

Next steps:

Go to our website http://nvc.state.gov/k1 to learn how to apply for a K visa and prepare for the visa interview.

Please keep the following information for your records:

The case status has been updated as well today:

U.S. Department of State
IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION
Ready
Case Last Updated: 29-Nov-2020

Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at:  http://nvc.state.gov/interview

Does this mean they are beginning to process k1 visa cases?

The best place to determine if your embassy is processing visas again is to visit their website. I visited the website for Riyadh and found this information.

As of September 21, the United States Mission to Saudi Arabia is resuming certain immigrant and nonimmigrant visa services, including limited immediate relative (IR-1 and IR-2), employment (EB-3 and 5), and fiancé (K), as well as student and exchange visitor (F, M, J classes) and work (E, I, O, P and some H and L classes) visas.  While the Embassy and Consulates General aim to process cases as soon as practicable, wait times are likely to increase for completing such services due to substantial backlogs.  The U.S. Mission will extend the validity of nonimmigrant visa payments (known as the MRV fee) until December 31, 2021, to allow all applicants who were unable to schedule a visa appointment as a result of the suspension of routine consular operations an opportunity to schedule a visa appointment with the already paid fee.  If you have an urgent matter and need to travel immediately, please follow the guidance provided at http://www.ustraveldocs.com/sa to request an emergency appointment.
