Came across this post through search as I am in the same boat. I have a couple of old traffic tickets (both are more than 12 years old) for around $100 each. These were just traffic tickets (one was for improper lane change and another for careless driving). No arrests or anything like that. I am answering 'Yes' to Part 12, Question 23 and in Question 29 I am mentioning "Traffic Ticket for $100" for the reasons and "Paid Ticket Fine of $100" in the outcome.

Now, in the last step of the online application, I am being asked for provide the following evidence:

  • Information about your arrest(s)

- There was no arrests, just traffic ticket fines. I am thinking of not uploading anything here and ignore this. Will that be OK? Can that delay the processing or cause any other problem?

  • Information about arrest(s) or conviction(s) removed from your record

- There was nothing like that. I am thinking of not uploading anything here and ignore this. Will that be OK? Can that delay the processing or cause any other problem?

  • Additional evidence you want to provide

- Since each of the ticket was for about $100, I think I do not have to upload any documentation. So, I am thinking of not uploading anything here and ignore this. Will that be OK? Can that delay the processing or cause any other problem? I will bring the tickets and payment proof to the interview though (in case the interview officer wants to see it).

Can I ignore all the three above, not upload anything and submit the application (assuming it will allow me to submit without these, as I have not gone to the submission page yet to try it).

Any suggestion and experience in similar situations will be very helpful.

Thats the catch 22, parking and traffic tickets. Once you say yes, you need to treat it like a crime on your N400.

Just muddies the water.

They don't care about petty things like that. Every American gets them.

Thanks for the comment. Can you suggest further, please? Based on many posts on this forum, it seems I must answer 'Yes' to Part 12, Question 23 since I have traffic tickets. Let's say I do not want to answer 'No' to that question, then what should I be doing with respect to the the following evidences? Should I not ignore them, and upload something even though I am not required to submit any documentation for tickets below $500? Can you please share your valuable opinion? Will be much appreciated.

You're going to write every ticket, that triggers the information request about arrest, as I said it muddies the waters.

You might as well answer yes to 22.

  1. Have you EVER committed, assisted in committing, or attempted to commit, a crime or offense for which you were NOT arrested?

You would be lying if you didn't admit to speeding, and not getting a ticket!!

Traffic tickets are 'infractions" unless you are cited for reckless driving, that's a "misdemeanor", that would be reported.

Infractions are not a crime. Neither are parking tickets.

STRAIGHT FROM THE INSTRUCTIONS:

NOTE: You must submit documentation of traffic incidents if:
(1) The incident involved alcohol or drugs;

Form N-400 Instructions 09/17/19 Page 13 of 18

(2) The incident led to an arrest; or
(3) The incident seriously injured another person.

You do not need to submit documentation for traffic fines or incidents that did not involve an arrest or did not involve drugs or alcohol, if the only penalty was a fine of less than $500 or points on your driving record.
