I'm hoping someone has had experience with this and can help with advice.

My spouse got his EAD in Dec 2019 last year, and then his AP in Feb of this year, came separately and not in a combo card.

We were scheduled for an interview in April, but obviously it was cancelled due to Covid.

With everything going on, we realize we should apply for an extension for both - can we apply for the extension for both now and hope to get a combo card renewal? Or do we have to apply for renewal for each separately?

You can apply at the same time as long as it is within 180 days of the expiration. They are processed at different offices, and the EAD will be processed electronically while the AP is done the old fashioned way, so it's a good possibility you will end up with 2 separate cards again, but maybe you will get a combo card, I think it just depends on how things progress. My wife's EAD card was renewed in less than a month, her AP took like 4 months, but we got lucky and got her green card before everything went crazy with Covid-19. We interviewed early February 2020, and received card a few weeks later about a month before everything started shutting down.
