a little off topic, but..

do the petitioner HAVE to fly to the beneficiary's country for the interview? or is it optional?

Charles went to the Canadian Welding Bureau?

See

cwb is the airport code for curitiba :bonk:

I know, but that was the first hit on my google search...

And it is funny...

To the OP: Check out www.flycheapabroad.com.

There you can find good deals to fly to Brazil and back. But the trip from Brazil will be way more expensive than the one flying from the US. Even an one-way ticket will be reasonably more expensive than the roundtrip from the US.

Hi Reynaldo. Thanks for the info. Yes, I have seen this website and I agree with you that the trip to Brazil isn't the problem. It's the return trip to America that I've found is very expensive.

But if you are interested http://www.submarinoviagens.com.br/ appears to have very good deals. I have found 2 one way tickets from Brazil to America for approximately $2200.00 (taxes & fees included) after the conversion of R's to $'s. Take care.

In my opinion, you could get a better deal over the counter at the airport. If you have a return ticket from Brazil and want your fiancee to be with you, you could just call tam and get a $1000 ticket (that is what I did, it was cheaper to get directly through them).

And if you book your ticket with TAM (through flycheapabroad.com) with 3 months in advance you'd pay $500 on your roundtrip and spend just another thousand to come back with your fiancee

It's optional, the brazilian spouse/future spouse can go to the interview solo and enter US solo (I did that). Some couples do like to be together for the interview.

I am trying to buy a ticket for my fiancee so we can fly together, then today I called an American Airlines representative, although I told her my fiancee will be traveling on an Immigrant Visa (I did not say K1 Visa thou), she said I must buy a Round Trip, if she is not an American Citizen. However I have a feeling that she is wrong and I am researching.

I makes no sense, because if the person is immigrating, it means she is moving to that country. That's where the difference between Immigrant and Non Immigrant resides...

Maybe I will try to buy a round trip with a returning date for December 2010 when we will be traveling back to visit Brazil. But I don't think that you can buy a round ticket with an year span. I don't know...

This is my first blog! Good luck to everyone!

You don't have to buy a round trip ticket for your fiancee; however, it is usually cheaper. It was in our case so we didn't worry about the return date and never used it.

They wrong. You can buy one way to the USA. If you are not a US Citizen, then you will be asked to present proof of travel, in you fiancee's case, will need to present and give copy of your K1 visa to the airline company. We bought the ticket for my fiancee with TAM and they asked me for the same requirements.. You are way better off trying them as in my traveling and booking have not experience any discomfort not like AA or Delta.. My fiancee contacted an agency [in Brazil] and they process the transaction for her, same price as advertise online.

Good luck
