Buck i am very sorry to hear about that break in. Hopefully everything gets better.

One questions guys, So when i file for the AOS all i have to pay is the 1010 fee and that includes the application for the EAD right? I do not have to pay the extra 340? I read that on the step by step guide for AOS and just wanted to confirm that it is correct. Thank you.

That's right. The $1,010 will cover both the AOS and the EAD. Make sure you send in both forms in the same packet.

And do keep track of the timing. If 6 months come by and no approval... sweet talk them at the Service Center into doing so. Worked for me, I think.

Hey you guys!!

Still waiting for notice from Santa Ana to tell us we have an interview date. I was looking at other timelines and people who filed for AOS a month before us have there interviews this month.

Do we know how long in advance they send out the interview letters? I checked the status of our case on the USCIS website and it still states pending. When I check the Santa Ana processing times it says they are processing on Feb 22??? thats like a year ago!! (but then again that date was updated on sept 30...so that means its no long feb 22 right?)

Does anyone know when I should start to worry? I see that Dre has been waiting for a year....what is out of the norm for AOS interviews?

Thanks for any help you can give me guys!!

Lots of love,

Diana

Remember not everyone gets to interview... we didn't.

If 6 months come and go and you don't have an approval (that's the key word), call them really nicely and let them know. You should also have a letter to your Rep or Senator ready to go explaining the situation and how 6 months is supposed to be more than enough to get the AOS approved.

We almost waited the 6 months. I called a few weeks before and spoke to a very nice lady at CSC, where the file was transferred from the National Benefits Center in Missouri (AOS go there from Chicago lockbox). I was REALLY sweet with her, she was really sweet with me, and mysteriously, the following week, CRIS emailed me that the AOS was approved. Two weeks later my wife had her GC.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

One more question!!

We are renting in an apartment with another couple...we currently dont have any utilities because our rent includes those kinds of charges. We have joint bank accounts and credit cards together aswell as health and car insurance. What else can we use for proof?

Thanks!

Diana,

I was going to say the same thing as Will. Most people don't get to interview, so you might get your approval without it. I've seen most people wait between 5-9 months and a few others who have had to not only wait past 12 months but re-send the I-765 to have their EADs renewed. But I'm with Will on this, start calling your state rep if it's been more than 6 months and nothing.

As far as evidence, try to gather as much as you can. It doesn't necessarily have to have both names on it but if it shows the same address, then you're fine. Things like drivers licenses, insurance cards, bank statements, pictures, etc.

ok....so I was just reading the uscis page where it says received and pending. Is it normal for my husbands I485 to be at the National Benefits Center? Shouldn't it be in Santa Ana like the EAD and AP were?

Thanks sooo much for your help guys!

Not necessarily the case. EAD and AP get processed a lot faster than the 485. By what I've seen in the past, if the 485 is kept at NBC that means to be ready for an AOS interview... if it gets transferred to your local Svc Ctr, then it would usually mean no interview. But who knows.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Dear Santa,

This Christmas I'm not asking for much. There are so many people unemployed and struggling that I'm just thankful for health and family. But if you can find it in your heart to put Oscar's green card under the tree, we'll be grateful. Since USCIS hasn't 'touched' our case since March 11th, I know this will take some magic. That's why I came to you with this request.

Merry Christmas

Andrea
