Dear friends,

I am proud to announce yet another graduate of the Colombia Club. Today my wife received her green card, which marks the happy ending of this part of our journey.

I really wanted to give thanks to all of you for your comments, patience and advise. My only regret is that I didn't find this forum earlier. But oh, well, in the end everything went great.

I'll be back on the 20th, to congraulate Andrea for her interview (I am sure her case will be approved). If anyone thinks my experience can be of any help, don't hesistate to send me an email.

Thanks again and see you in a couple of years at the Club Colombia Naturalization!!

Juan Carlos.

Hey guys,

Congratulations Juan Carlos on getting past that stage in the whole process, and we aim to successfully join you soon.

So we are getting ready mentally and physically for the interview next Wednesday the 22nd. What do you guys think is good evidence to show to the interviewer? I heard that if we are going to bring pictures, they should be since my wife arrived here to the US, is this true? I mean we have albums that we prepared for the interview at the embassy last time and it wouldn't hurt to use them right? I mean the embassy didn't even ask for them.

So far we have been collecting everything else they ask for and as far as evidence showing that we have things together we have a joint bank account and a joint tax return for this year. Thanks ahead for the tips guys.

19 hours to go. I just realized that I didn't get a letter from my employer. I have the one they put together for my Bogota interview, can anyone tell my how important the letter is? Should I go in the office tomorrow and have my boss sign a new letter?

Any last minute tips?

Hey guys,

So as far as the interview is concerned.. I was under the impression that I was going to be able to translate for my wife, but then again that would be biased because if I am the petitioner I could just say something else right>? So with this in mind, do you guys think that we need to bring a translator for the interview? this would be a real hassle since because of the time frame and cost. You guys think we could bring someone else that is not a certified translator or if my wife's english is good enough, should she try to answer the questions themselves, and that would also show she is learning by going to school? HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Thanks

It varies from office to office. I've read some posts where the person conducting the interview refused to continue and told the couple to come back with a translator. But I've also read posts of people who took their chances, went without the translator and the USCIS official was ok with that.

- Andrea... any news??????

- Harold, I requested an Infopass before my wife's interview to ask precisely your question. Happens that our Interviewing Officer was bilingual, so there was no need to bring a translator. In our case, they clearly told us that if we hadn't had that particular officer, we would've had to bring an official translator.

Now, I've read that others have brought a friend to translate... but they would also be biased, right? Ah, another thing: on my interview letter, the checkbox of "Bring an interpreter" was not checked. That should give you an idea if your Interviewing Officer is bilingual or not.

When we went for our interview I asked when I handed in the appointment notice for someone who spoke Spanish for my hubby, he was so nervous. We had to wait about another hour but the whole interview was done in Spanish ( thank goodness I am pretty good at SPanish ). This was our experience.

Hoe we here from OskaryAndrea soon....................
