I am an American citizen living abroad with my wife (foreign national), and we have adopted a son locally.  He has been our son legally for two years now.  It is my understanding that I need to file a I-130 for him to start the immigration process.  Anybody have experience with this?  What type of evidence did you provide?  How did the process go?  Thanks for your input.

That is my understanding.  It is treated as immediate relative instead of an adoption visa.  We adopted a child while we've been living in the Philippines and September 2020 will be the 2 years of custody for us.  There are so many things that have changed with immigration to the US including the president signing an executive order stopping all immigration temporarily.  We were looking for guidance on this also but I see you posted this in February and have no replies yet.  Maybe not many people here who've recently done this.

@Jim&Gemz

Thanks for replying.  As of 10 days ago (April 13), I-130 for our adopted son was accepted by the USCIS, so it must have been acceptable.  But of course with all that's going on right now, there's no telling when it might be approved...

Acceptable in what regard?  For processing?  Correct fee payment,  signed forms?  Yes.

Eligibility? Approvability?  Not yet known
