Hi,

I would want people share their experience if they been under the poverty line and used assets to just get over it? Have they requested you to use a joint sponsor or have you passed it without troubles?

My partner will potentially just be around +/- the poverty line this year while the last 2 years been something between 12-17k, the low numbers are pretty much because of traveling and working seasonally. But she will have more then 10k to show in assets, thats after the 1/3 included. I also have some assets to include if that could help.

We have people we can ask for being joint sponsors, but we rather not, just keep it simple and less paperwork :P

cheers

Study those I-864 instructions carefully, and do your math.  Yes, your liquid assets can be added to those of the petitioner.  That is covered in the instructions. Becoming an A student of those instructions will be critical to your ultimate success.

What is the petitioner's "current income".  For example, if you get a job today paying a thousand a week, your current income is $50,000 a year, no matter what the 2018 income was.
