Hello,

 

I have an N-400 interview scheduled for next week in Boston. I'm planning an international trip in mid-October and now I'm worried they're going to schedule my oath for the week I'm away.

How long is it usually between interview and oath scheduling?

N400 Timeline

  • 09/23/2019: Applied and paid online. Received a receipt number immediately.
  • 09/24/2019: USCIS online estimate is April 2020 
  • 09/28/2019: NOA1 received in my mailbox
  • 09/28/2019: Biometrics appointment scheduled [waiting for notice]
  • 10/04/2019: Biometrics appointment notice received in mailbox 
  • 10/17/2019: Biometrics appointment in Revere, MA completed
  • 10/17/2019: USCIS status changed to "we reviewed your biometrics"
  • 10/17/2019: USCIS online estimate is March 2020
  • 01/01/2020: Interview scheduled for Feb. 5, 2020
  • 02/05/2020: Interview expected in Boston
  • 02/04/2020: Received interview de-scheduled [ugh!]
  • 02/11/2020: Interview scheduled for March 10, 2020
  • 03/10/2020: Interview passed. N-400 Approved.
  • 03/11/2020: USCIS status online says naturalization ceremony scheduled for 04/23/2020 [cancelled  because of COVID-19]
  • 06/05/2020: USCIS status online says naturalization ceremony scheduled for 06/23/2020. 
  • 06/23/2020: Naturalization oath ceremony anticipated.

  • 07/19/2018: ROC package sent to VSC
  • 07/20/2018: NOA1 sent extending Green Card by 18 months (So, Feb. 2020)
  • 07/25/2018: NOA1 received by me
  • 07/30/2018: USCIS online case status - recognizes case no. but has no update
  • 08/11/2018: Biometrics appointment letter received dated 08/03/2018
  • 08/22/2018: Biometrics appointment completed

I had my interview on Monday 10/7 , unfortunately they couldn't give me an indication of my oath date ( did pass everything) the day of the interview. The officer told me that I would receive a letter in the mail in 2-3 weeks to indicate when it would be. Hopefully it wont take 3 weeks to get the letter. Cant seem to find a thread as to whats average waiting time for the oath letter from Boston FO. any idea guys? 

 

Anyway, glad to be in the home stretch . 

applied for N400 whilst I751 was pending, however I751 was approved without an interview on Jan 10th /11th

N-400 applied Online: 11/7/18

BIO for N400 : 11/30/18

EST. Case Completion: October 2019) of 7/15/19 

INTERVIEW: 10/7/2019- APPROVED

OATH DATE: 10/24/2019-  received oath letter in the mail on 10/11

That sucks, I got my letter the day of the interview for 15 days later.

Agreed, and I saw that someone who got interviewed today got told they have their oath on the 24th. Logic would dictate I should also be on the 24th, but without the letter, there is no way of knowing. Oh well. so we wait ( nothing new, lol)

Update:

 

just checked my USCIS account and it states that " we have scheduled you for your naturalization ceremony..."- this comes after the previous message was inline for oath ceremony,  unfortunately  the letter isn't uploaded online yet, so I assume it should be online by the weekend?

 

Will check again tomorrow afternoon to see if I got lucky in regards to it being uploaded, just so I can let my company know when I wont be here.

Good luck! My interview was exactly a month ago (09/09) and my oath was 09/24

They didn't check, I wish I'd known that. But there wasn't a lot of space for guests either.

I was hoping I could bother you one more time for a little bit more information. 

 

So based on the letter we have to be there at 12pm. 

 

Do you know if we have to be seated by 12? or arrive by 12?

Do you know how long the ceremony lasts more or less? 

Would I be allowed my phone with me or would i have to pass that off to my guest(s) ?

and Lastly, did you by chance notice if one can register to vote/apply for passports there? 

 

Any other rundown on the day would be greatly appreciated.

The letter says which originals you need!
-Marriage certificate

-Certificate of divorce

-Husband naturalization certificate and passport

-All my passports

-GC 

I’m scheduled for 2/11 I’m literally planning to bring the original above plus everything I have of my case. Better safe than sorry
