Can I travel abroad after N-400 Biometrics?

Hello,

 

I am a US Permanent resident and have submitted my N-400 application for citizenship, and have my biometrics appointment coming up Sep. 11th. I am planning for a trip abroad to my home country, end of October 2019, for 3 weeks. Is it ok to travel abroad when your citizenship application is pending? What should I do if I get interview notice while I'm abroad?

Yes is fine. I went to Canada the next day after I did my biometric and I came back after 11 days and everything was fine. Have a nice trip

Sure it’s ok. If you get an interview notice that soon, it will be pretty rare, what FO are you at?

Thank you! I'm at the Chicago field office. I saw some timelines where some people at Chicago FO got interview notice in 1.5 months after biometrics, so just wanted to make sure.

That’s amazing, in general and given that current official processing times for n400 for Chicago are 8-16 months. Hope you also get a speedy interview like the others you saw!
