Hello,

I will probably get my passport back with the visa in it. So I have some questions, assuming that I get my passport with visa:

1. How do I get the alien number and DOS number so that I can pay the USCIS immigrant fee?

2. When do I get my green card after I arrive in the U.S.?

3. How do I get a social security number when I get to the U.S.?

Is there anything else that I need?

The A number and DOS number are on the visa printed in your passport.

The green card will arrive sometime between 1 month and 6 months after you enter.

If you checked the  box on the DS 260 requesting a SSN to be issued , it should arrive 3-4 weeks after you enter   If it doesn’t arrive , or you didn’t check that box , or if you want the number issued sooner , head to the local SSA office with your passport and apply in person
