AOS Birth/Adoption Certificate Question

Hey guys!! 

 

I filed my AOS after marriage but I received a request for initial evidence stating they need a copy of my birth certificate. 

 

I was adopted by my stepfather in 2008 after my biological father unfortunately passed away in 2004. I submitted a copy of my adoption certificate but they’re requesting a copy of my birth certificate. Does this mean the adoption certificate copy is missing or not enough? And do I need to provide both or just my adoption certificate again?   

 

My adoption certificate was all that was required for my K1 as my original birth certificate is technically invalid because my adoption certificate supersedes it. 

 

(Sorry if that rambled on a bit I just want to be clear)

I would say these are two different documents. I have both and USCIS usually wants both and we sent both copies.

So I assume your adoption decree is not missing, but on top of that they ask for your birth certificate (copy).

Thank you for your response!! I’ll get a copy of my original and I’ll submit both again just to be 100% sure
