Chances of denial

I have the interview scheduled in Naples for the CR1 visa. I have collected EVERYTHING necessary and have even triple checked, however, I am still extremely nervous. I am the petitioner, and am also in the military. I even have orders with the beneficiary’s name on it for my next duty location. My question is, does being in the military give any leverage for the interview? Is Italy known for denials? I ask this, because I’ve read stories that the CO officer denied some individuals visas because they did not believe it was a legit marriage. Or that is was denied for a reason that was unknown.

Being in the military is neither a positive or negative in terms of eligibility for the visa. They will assess the totality of the circumstances and evidence presented and make a decision from there.

 

Italy is not generally considered high fraud. It’s likely closer to low fraud than anything. No need to panic or anything...just present a good case. You know your case better than anybody. If there aren’t any red flags, you will likely be fine. Make sure you have everything needed at the interview to avoid a 221g for additional documents (which would delay your case).

 

Yes, people have been refused for all sorts of ineligibilities and from every country, military or not.

 

Refusals always have a reason provided (section of the INA), although many times not nearly as specific as one wants.
