The rate of less than $50/hr which I was quoted was for all-inclusive 1099--which is an absolute disaster for any IT professional with 10+ years experience. Realistically, this works out to less than $80K salary equivalent (as salaried positions, there is the additional cost to employer of benefits such as health insurance)

(I used the lifestyle equivalent of $60K/yr in Atlanta--which was my second-last salary in that area--as my standard of measurement; $80K in NYC is equivalent to about $35K in Atlanta)
