Old Case

Hi,

 

My bro filed i-130 for me in 2001, i didn't get the notice in mail at that time in 2006, i am a Canadian citizen, now i am reconsidering getting green card. when i see the status it shows below message, is there a way to reopen the case  or need to send new I-130?

 

On February 24, 2006, your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, Receipt Number LIN0000000000, was transferred to another USCIS office. That office now has jurisdiction over your case. We sent you a notice that explains why we moved your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your notice by March 26, 2006, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

probably the case was closed due to abandonment, I don't know if your brother will be able to reopen it or will have to start from scratch.

 

years ago, sibling petition would take over 10 years, this petition was filed 18 years ago, and nobody did anything with it, so immigration closed it due to abandonment
