N400 - Change of Address

I have my N-400 interview scheduled next month. I moved on 12/15/2018, still within the same jurisdiction, only about 15 minutes away from my old apartment. I updated my address on my USCIS profile on the same day, but did not submit the AR-11 to change my address, thinking that updating it on my profile was sufficient.

When i got my letter for my citizenship interview it had my old address on it. I still received it because I set up mail forwarding so that's fine.

I have submitted my change of address now via the AR-11 form, but could this cause a problem where you're supposed to notify them within 10 days? I really thought changing my address on my online USCIS profile would be enough.

Thanks!

Changing the online profile doesn't mean anything. It's not like your Amazon account. As mentioned, you're required to file the AR-11 within 10 days of changing address.

With that said, there was only ONE time in my life, I've seen that provision regarding the AR-11 used in anything. There was a high profile case in Raleigh, NC where I used to live. The suspect was some sort of terrorist or something, they suspected him murdered like 3 people. The police had him in custody, however, there was not enough evidence to hold him, and they were afraid that if they had to let him go, he was just gonna disappear into the winds. So after consulting with many appropriate agencies, the only thing they could hold him was "failure to file the AR-11 as an immigrant". That was enough to hold him for 24 hours or something like that, so more evidence against him could be brought in front of the DA to charge him. It was pretty creative in parts of the prosecutors...

Other than that, I'm sure there are tons of people that missed the 10 days and had no problem.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I changed my address two other times since living in the US, and have documented proof that I submitted the AR-11 on time. I never intended for USCIS to not know that I changed my address. I'll bring as much documentation regarding my address changes to the interview and hope it isn't a problem.
