Staff shortage in Montreal

aren't the other( non-immigrant) visas handled at every other consulate and the embassy.....Toronto Ottawa Calgary etc?

This probably is a big postive for anyone waiting on an interview to Montreal. Frees up some staff for immigrant inverviews and k visas. Plus there are a number of cases that seem to be getting transferred to Vancouver. Hopefully, the transfer of cases to Vancouver doesn't start backing them up.

That's kind of what I was hoping for everyone waiting for their interview in Montreal. Perhaps they're reallocating staff to deal with the backlog. One can only hope.

I belive it has only beent he last while that CR-1's have been faster than K1, I know K1'ers were moving much faster than I, when I was going through the process, which always brougt up the arguement that the marriage based visas should be faster over a fiance visa,lol

Yup, I think the priority through every stage of this process should be:

1. CR-1/IR-1

2. K3

3. K1

Yup! AFAIK, all consulates do the non-immigrant visas (except for Ks of course).

Yup! AFAIK, all consulates do the non-immigrant visas (except for Ks of course).

Please please please don't start the marriage versus fiance visa argument again!

That order (DCF, K3, K1) actually makes sense to me, although for my own sake, of course I wish K1 to be first :-P But I don't like the idea of married people being apart, and this is one of the reasons I am glad we are going K1...since we aren't married yet and I'd imagine it would be a lot harder for us to be apart if we were. Of course the other reason is that at the time we applied we didn't know about the other types of visas we could have gone for, but I don't think we would have chosen them anyway, even though K1 will mean more work for us after we're finally married (I think)... :-P
