Our case begin pending since October last year with the below heading

!Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview

Please this is for a friend in Manhattan New York i don;t if anyone knows the why this is still pending or can they call USCIS ??

Your good advice will be adhered to.

Yup.....thats what it will say until an interview spot opens up.....

The case was just submitted last year, so still within normal wait time: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/ If a family-based GC then can only officially complain if the application was submitted before or on September 21, 2016. If an employment-based GC then can only officially complain if the application was submitted before or on June 08, 2017.

If the EAD and/or AP expired or is about to expire then new forms I-765 and I-131 should be submitted to the Chicago Lockbox (Phoenix or Dallas if employment-based) https://www.uscis.gov/i-765-addresses Both forms are free, just include a photocopy of the I-485 receipt notice.
