Form I-693 Validity Question

Hello,

 

We submitted Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record around August 2017 with our AOS. The Civil Surgeon signed the medical report around May 2017. 

 

I believe the medical validity increased to 2 years, which was effective on Novermber 1, 2018. 

 

Although we we submitted our medical report prior to 2018, do you think our medical report is only valid for a year, or will it apply to the two year rule?

 

We are thinking whether or not my husband should take a new examination if it is still under the one year validity.

 

Now thinking about it, I think we were supposed to mail the medical report within 60 days the Civil Surgeon was supposed to sign it. We had a delay in gathering our documents. Should my husband re-do the exam?

If the priority date is more than 60 days out from the date of the surgeon's signature then yes, the medical will need to be redone.

We will redo the medical exam. 

 

I suppose the USCIS Office doesn’t open the sealed envelope with the medical exam until the interview, is that right? I can only imagine that is the case since we didn’t receive a RFE for it yet.

Thanks!

They do open it. They can provide you a RFE in your interview if you don't have an updated one with you. They have no obligation to do so beforehand.

Thanks Lizzie! Definitely don’t want a RFE for one that could be corrected.

Thank you so much and definitely!  We are so nervous, especially for the commingling of finances. We don’t have many evidences for it, but we hope all will go well.
