18 month extension letter along with a existing I 551 stamp on the passport

Hi folks,

so my physical green card expired in April this year 2018 and I had got a i551 stamp in March which is valid till March 2019.  Now my i751 case has been accepted (late filing) and I’m expecting the 18 month extension letter/NOA1.

So for all purposes which date shall I consider the 18 months to begin from - the green card expiration date in April 2018 or the i551 stamp in March 2019.

The stamp is separate. Your extension letter is only valid with your expired original green card, so in that instance it would be 18 months from the April 2018 date.

Ok that’s clear. So it’s the expired green card and the extension letter than work together and serve as proof of residence for all purposes. Not the stamp and extension letter.
