transfer I-485 to another field office

Hello there

We filed for AOS in August 2018 and the local field office is in Houston, TX. As of now (Dec 16 2018), the status on USCIS website shows "as of September 26 ...ready to be scheduled for an interview".

The estimated time for AOS in Houston is 21.5 - 34 months, so there are at least another 16 months to go.

However, I noticed that other field offices have much shorter processing times. For example, Tucson, AZ has an estimated 8.5 - 16 months.

It would be very easy for us to move to Tucson, AZ as we have a house there. Does anyone know if this would help our AOS be processed faster? At what point is it sent to the local field office? If we move, does the application get automatically transferred to the other field office (after we submit a change of address to USCIS), or does it wait until its time is up in Houston? The second scenario won't do us any good as it will just add extra time when transferred, but the first scenario will save 8 months or so.

Anyone had any similar experience?

Thanks

moi
