Traveling while pending AOS case?

We are planning on traveling from Las Vegas to San Diego and was wondering if there would be any problems along the way. Is there some sort of checkpoint or anything that we should know about? If there is some sort of checkpoint, would there be a problem with my status?

I currently have a pending AOS case and I am in the "ready for interview" stage. Are there certain things I should bring to not cause any problems?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place; I couldn't find the right place for this type of question.

Not a problem. If driving, just be aware that from San Diego to Las Vegas there are checkpoints: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Border_Patrol_interior_checkpoints#California It is a federal misdemeanor for non-citizens to not carry proof of status; https://www.uscis.gov/ilink/docView/SLB/HTML/SLB/0-0-0-1/0-0-0-29/0-0-0-8289.html:

Quote

(e) Every alien, eighteen years of age and over, shall at all times carry with him and have in his personal possession any certificate of alien registration or alien registration receipt card issued to him pursuant to subsection (d). Any alien who fails to comply with the provisions of this subsection shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall upon conviction for each offense be fined not to exceed $100 or be imprisoned not more than thirty days, or both.

Do you have an EAD card yet? If not, then carry a copy of your I-485 receipt notice.
