Traveling to India with Expired Green card & I-797 Notice

Hello, so in two weeks i'm planning to fly to India using Emirates flight. My greencard is expired and i got letter i-797 saying 18 months extended.

I hear stories that many people running into problem with that, and they are asking you to get stamp on passport. Or else won't let you fly from USA

and even if they do then many troubles coming back. Anyone with that experience? flying with emirates?

I know this is old, but was wondering if you traveled to India and back with your I-797? Thanks.
