I was browsing looking for information on companies that move belongings from Canada--->USA. The tread is so old so i'm starting a new one.

What companies/experiences/quotes did you have/get?

I'm looking to find a reputable company that is not a UPACK type of place.

Thank you in advance.

United and Atlas are two of the majors.  None of the minor ones do transborder moves.

They'll quote prices in USD.  We paid around $7500 to move a 2 bedroom apartment Toronto to California.  We had them pack the kitchen and we packed the rest to save some money.  I highly encourage you working with the agent to see what they can do to save you money.  I also recommend getting a "bound not to exceed quote".  This means that if the weight is less than they estimate, you'll get a lower price, but if the weight exceeds the estimate, it's limited to the estimate (or maybe 110% of it).

I doubt that you'll find anyone who has anything glowing to say about any of the major moving companies.  Our driver was rather clueless and resistant to getting the needed permit for parking for delivery.

They also take care of the customs paperwork to help make that smoother.

Awesome, good advice and thank you!

I think since we are moving WPG->Minnesota and its about a 7 hour drive, we might get an okay quote (don't quote me on that...lol)  BUT this "bound not to exceed quote" information is most excellent.
