Tax Return Question (Related to Interview Date)

Hi all,

We are DCF filing in London. If my husband schedules his interview for January, does anyone know what would be considered the most recent year for tax returns? Would we then need to submit my tax return for 2018, rather than 2017? Will I have to get everything filed before the interview date? I'm a bit confused about the timing because I just realized another tax year would be over in the U.S.!

Last year I got an extension and didn't file until September. This is because I waited to file in the UK first in April. Will this still apply now or will I have to file earlier? What year of tax returns will they expect?

Many thanks for any help!

2017 is what you need to give them, since taxes aren't due until April and you likely haven't received W-2's before the interview.  They'll be able to determine 2018 based on the expected current income line of your application.  Bring in some pay stubs or other info should you expect 2018 to look vastly different than 2017.
