NVC -> embassy in Russia

Does anyone have information about the process after NOA2 specifically for russia? Our NOA2 was dated oct 13 and my fiance called the NVC today oct 30 and they still dont have it. He was told it could take up to 6 weeks to get it, another 8 to process. this cannot be true. thats 14 weeks at the NVC another 2 to get here, which brings us to late january, leaving us  no time to get an interview date. Can I schedule an interview date before the embassy here gets the packet or do i have to wait?

Although it can be shorter, those seem to be some of the timelines people are facing. And no, from my experience of this process and other people's cases, you cannot get an interview at the embassy before the case is completed at NVC. The only way you can do this faster is to have your case expedited. I have seen a few do it successfully and pass through NVC in just a couple of weeks but you need convincing and genuine grounds (or who knows, it could hurt your petition). For example:

 

•Severe financial loss to company or person;

•Emergency situation

•Humanitarian reasons

•Nonprofit organization whose request is in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States

•Department of Defense or national interest situation

•USCIS error

•Compelling interest of USCIS

 

We received our NOA2 on the 13th October too and I also called up and was told it was still not received and to wait 6 weeks.
