Service Request for overdue EAD / AP

What is the purpose of service requests?


I've been waiting for my EAD and AP since March 2, 2018. At the beginning of September I filed a SR online for outside normal processing time for both. I received confirmation emails telling me that I can expect a reply by October 9 2018. Needless to say Oct 9 came and went without any updates on my applications or service requests. So I phoned USCIS, spoke to a Tier2 agent and she said that she will file another service request (and I can expect a reply in 30 days time.) How many times do I have to do this before I can get an update on my applications?

Honestly, I had the impression that service requests were being ignored. I submitted 2 when my EAD took forever, and never heard back. I also called, talked to tier 2 officers, and never really got an update besides "just wait, don't call again, you will probably hear something soon". I ended up requesting an expedite because of a job offer, and even got the Senator's office involved before it finally got moving.

Good luck! I know the long wait can be very frustrating.
