Husband and I are filling out AOS stuff right now. Not sure what last name to put on my things. Not sure how I’m supposed to legally change my last name when I don’t have any American ID. We didn’t realize we were to apply for a social security number card for me shortly after I crossed the border. And I’m not sure how the Texas marriage certificate is proof of me changing my last name since we didn’t have to sign it or anything...help?!

Yes. Your marriage certificate is your proof that you can now start using your married last name. It states what your husband's last name is and that is proof enough that you can elect to use his surname as yours. That is all you need. Fill all of your AOS documents in the last name you would like to use. By submitting your marriage certificate with each form that certifies you are allowed to use that name.

If you did not apply for your SSN before marriage you will have to wait for it now until you get your EAD. You can fill out the SSN request on I485 and they will send you your SS card in your new name and with the right to work once your Combo card is approved.
