visit visa application

Hi all, i got rejected for I140 visa 8 years ago as i met my then wife through internet and she came to visit me when i was living in uganda africa. they rejected at interview giving me a reason "not a bona fide relationship" although it was a genuine relationship (we didnt provide a lot of evidence because we were naive that they can work out themselves as this is genuine relationship and my lousy immigration lawyer never told us what we should be presenting). i was already going through a very tough time, imagine coming from my father's funeral from pakistan (i still hold pakistani passport) and to get my flight delayed and reaching consulate in kenya after being up for over 50 hours. anyways after the rejection i went in depression and it affected our relationship too and few months down the line we parted ways. now 8 years after i live in new zealand with my partner for over a year, working and enjoying my life here. currently on work visa and waiting for my residence visa to come which i should get in couple of months. my wife expressed the desire to visit usa for her best friend's wedding and that we should apply for a visa. she is a nz citizen so not much hassle for her anyway but i have not told her this about my past. my question is am i eligible to apply for a usa visit visa and if i am, what would be the best way to do so without affecting my current relationship? do they bring up the past visa details? as we will apply together i am guessing we might be interviewed together. any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks

Yes you can apply. $160. DS-160.

They have a record of past visa applications and can consider anything from those, including asking questions.

You will each get a visa or not based on your individual merits.
