Dad says he lost old passport

I'm helping my dad apply for a US visa. He's never been and he's nearing 70. That story here: link.

 

He has his old 2007-2012 and his current 2015-2020 passport. But, he's missing the 2012-2015 one. He can remember the countries he's been to for those years (he worked in Southeast Asia), but can't remember the exact entry/exit dates.

 

I read off the application website that he needs to have all his old passports. Does that mean that if we send his application, it might just get automatically rejected?  :(
