Hello every one

Does NVC accept I864 form if i did not write down my SSN.

I am at NVC stage and i will be sending the i864 form soon.but i did not recieve my SSN card yet.

I applied for the SSN one month ago through  the SSA office of the american embassy in Rome since iam an USC living overseas. And i cant travel to USA right now to apply  .

I called the embassy and they told me it typicaly takes 5-6 months to recieve the card.. i bagged them to just give me  the number over the phone  and i explained to them that i cant wait for 6 months to submit the i864 form . but they refused due to security rules.i asked for expidet service and again they told no expidet services .

I  am planning on submiting the i864 without my SSN.

Any body has experiance of accepted i864 without writting down there SSN?

If you are a USC you already have an SSN. Why did you apply for one in Rome? Even LPRs and some visa holders have SSNs. I don't understand why you have applied for another one. You keep the same one for life, even if you move overseas.

I do not believe it will be accepted. I suspect it will be auto-rejected for being incomplete. (they need your ssn to verify your tax info) They will ask you to complete it. Then if you respond and explain the situation they can either say they are not forwarding to the embassy or they are going to forward it. You are not going to be able to get the visa without it even if they send it to the embassy because the Officer is the one that approves it at your interview.

Have you tried going back in person to the Embassy in Rome? Bring all the same ID you needed to apply for the card. I know when you apply for the card (in the US) they give you some kind of receipt that says you applied. Now I dont believe this has the # on it however sometimes the SS worker asks if you want a printout with your number.

I believe the problem you are having is because you are attempting this over the phone and they have no way to verify your identity - and they just dont give out peoples ssn to anyone who asks for it. So try in person before you send in the 864 blank.

I thought that too when I first read it and went back to make sure she said she was a USC- and she did. I mean, you dont get a SSN automatically at birth and you can get citizenship through your parents and probably a bunch of other ways too this can happen.  ¯\_(ヅ)_/¯
