Interview in Rio (READY)?

Timeline

Are you allowed to schedule an interview at the Rio consulate before your case says “Ready”?  I know interview slots there book up fast.  Am I allowed to submit DS160 and schedule interview if I have my Case number but status is still “At NVC”?  Needs definitive answer please

There is no definitive answer because in some cases, the scheduling system of CSRA did not allow the applicant to move on with the scheduling while their case was "AT NVC".

 

What you need to be aware of is that when you schedule the interview before receiving the email from the Consulate, you do so at your own risk. Most people face no difficulties but for your reference, changes have been made to the Biometrics part of the process and applicants who scheduled an interview during this transition period had some hurdles because they were getting conflicting information from Consulate/CSRA.
