Any idea what my fiancee' and I should wear to the interview?  Would just wearing a nice shirt and jeans be sufficient enough?

My wife wore a nice blouse and blue jeans.  I wore a polo shirt and shorts.

 

But yes, dressing nice is important, but no need to get fancy.

Ok thanks we will dress similar to that then.  Is there a dress code for the medical exam or about the same as the interview?

For the medical, it tends to be cool in there so bring a sweater or jacket.

Can my fiancee bring like a bag with her to SLEC or is she only allowed to bring the documents she needs?

Yup she can bring a bag.  My wife had a bag big enough to hold her file folder.

 

NO electronics of any type

Ok thanks that's good to know.  I didn't realize she couldn't bring her cell phone. I was hoping she could message me while she was waiting...I guess not.   I wonder why they don't list this stuff on their site.  I looked and I can't find  anything about not bring a cell phone.

Guess you didn't look in the right place   

 

What not to bring? You are not permitted to bring cell phones or other electronic devices into the U.S. Embassy. You will be denied entry if you bring such devices.

You are not allowed to enter the U.S. Embassy/Consulate while carrying any of the following items:

• battery-operated or electronic devices such as mobile phones, digital diaries, digital watches, pagers, cameras, audio/video cassettes, compact discs, MP3s, floppy disks, laptops, or portable music players
• large shoulder bags/purses - only bags that can be carried by hand will be permitted
• bags such as travel bags, backpacks, briefcases, suitcases, leather, cloth bags, and zip folders - you can only carry plastic bags containing application-related papers
• food items (refreshments are available for purchase in the waiting area)
• sealed envelopes or packages
• cigarettes, cigars, match boxes, lighters
• sharp objects such as scissors, pen knives or nail files
• weapons or explosive materials of any kind

 

This list is not exhaustive. Other items may be prohibited at the discretion of security staff.

There is no facility at the U.S. Embassy/Consulate to store prohibited items. You must make arrangements to store these items before you enter the U.S. Embassy/Consulate.

Due to security considerations, there is no information window for walk-in visitors at the U.S. Embassy/Consulate. Only visa applicants with scheduled interviews will be admitted into the U.S. Embassy/Consulate.

I knew we couldn't in the Embassy, but I am talking about SLEC about her bring a bag and her cell phone there when she does the medical exam?  Sorry for the confusion.

    I guess I need to read slower ....       I was still focused on the Interview topic.  My bad.

 

Yes she can bring her cell phone to SLEC.   Sorry.   And a light jacket or sweater would be good as it gets cool in there

I read somewhere that if the US citizen attends the interview at USEM, he/she can take electronics inside and put them in a lock box.  Can anyone verify?

Yes that is true.  The USC must enter through a different door from what I have read, but they will store the phone and such.

So my fiancee' heard something that she will get a packet at SLEC or the U.S. embassy that she can't open?  What is this about?  Is this something with the medical or the U.S. Embassy?  Thanks.
